MLB Will Open its 2021 Season at 20% Capacity
It took them a long time, but it looks like the MLB will resume in 2021 with at least 20% of its full capacity.
The good news relates to Monday’s announcement by Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot, stating that big venues will be allowed to open up partially to fans, right on time for the commencement of this year’s edition of America’s national pastime, scheduled to happen by April 1st. Thus, the Chicago Cubs will get to kick off their season with a game vs the Pirates at their own home of the Wrigley Field, while the White Sox will be able to receive the local fandom at the Guaranteed Rate Field, when they match field strengths with the Colorado Rockies on April 8th.

Chicago reopens in time for the start of the MLB Regular Season
As stated by Mayor Lightfoot to the sports media: “As a die-hard sports myself., I’m personally excited to have Chicago take its first cautious steps toward safely re-opening our beloved baseball stadiums to fans this season.”
According to the city’s long-term reopening plan, the venues will be allowed to take in up to 20% of the locales’ total capacity; in Wrigley Field’s case, that would translate to 8274 total fans, while at the home of the White Sox, the numbers of attendees cannot surpass that of 8122. April’s audience cap is also supposed to be the start of a slow – but progressive – reopening of the city’s major gathering places.
